Day 3-5: Long Beach Island

It was such a nice relief to pull onto Long Beach Island for a few restful days at the Jersey Shore. Emilyn and Daddy had a blast digging for sand crabs. We enjoyed some GREAT seafood. And fudge. And cream donuts. And THAT'S why I walked 3 miles on my second day there...

Ellen's house is just great, and the people she rents to upstairs were very nice. Ellen has decorated the whole place with photos of family and friends enjoying themselves at the beach, so I decided to make her a collage of our time at the shore. There were a LOT of pictures that I didn't get to use, though.

Emilyn couldn't pass up any store named "Just Bead It." So, she went in for a hair wrap on our last day there. It's still in and looks great!

Day 1-2: Powered by iPod

Steve was ready for the road. He loaded his new iPod with 22 hours of music. And that's not even close to full! We got into Kentucky, and he remarked: "This is the greatest radio station EVER!" You can learn a lot about a man from what's on his iPod. Our friend Brian has done a lot of thinking on this subject. For me, much of what's on Steve's iPod harks back to our teen years. Ahhh, the good old days.

Anyway, Allen slept pretty good to the strains of Steve Radio, and Emilyn had her own tunes on headphones. So, in all, the road was pretty peaceful. Until we got to Baltimore...

Now that's a road that's downright testy.

Those lazy, hazy, crazy Ballwin Days

The last full weekend of June is always Ballwin Days, our little carnival in Vlasis Park. It's always good for a few rides, a few games... And this year, FIREWORKS!

Emilyn's a whiz at throwing darts. And on his first experience with a carnival, Allen, needless to say, fell in love. He really liked to ride the cars (and he looks more and more like Grampy to me whenever I catch him making the above face). And he got to stay up WAY past bedtime. Lots of good pictures, with captions and comments, so check them out!
