Ballwin Days - hot and buggy !

Well, they moved our town's annual festival about three weeks earlier in June -- to beat the heat, possibly? Ha!

Yesterday's heat tied a 100-year-old record, and I think today's broke one. It was officially 98 at the airport at 4 p.m.

But Allen and I still braved the weather -- and the cicadas -- and headed up to the park for Ballwin Days. No parade this year, but still the usual assortment of rides, games and food booths. I hope those Scout troops and charities that are raising money are selling something cool and refreshing -- that is, if anybody ventures out of their A/C long enough to buy it!

We played a couple of games... Allen won a big ball and a pinwheel. We bought some tickets for the rides, but there were only about four that were good for kiddos of Allen's size and temperament! He says he did have fun on the cars... Mommy saw a bench that was funny but needed a comma. Cicadas were everywhere!

To the boy's credit, he never whined about the brutal heat or pounding sun. He was very matter-of-fact about his total disdain for the megaslide! After that traumatic experience, he was more than ready to head home.
